چکیده

In the context of Active Queue Management, intelligent dropping algorithms have been proposed to achieve a better link utilization with TCP. In this paper we apply this research to the problem of achieving a better utilization of a customer’s contracted throughput when it is sending a TCP traffic aggregate. We propose a scheme, Random Early Marking (REM), that improves the throughput of a TCP aggregate by early marking some packets as out. The proper configuration of REM has been analyzed from a control theoretical standpoint. Simulation results show that REM leads to a significant improvement in a wide range of environments.

Performance analysis of relative service using TCP-aware marking and dynamic WRED

The implementation of successful assured forwarding (AF) services according to the DiffServ framework remains a challenging problem today, despite the numerous proposals for assured forwarding per-hopbehaviour (AF PHB) mechanisms and AF-based service implementations. The interaction of the TCP and UDP traffic under an AF-based service and a number of relative issues such as fairness among flows...

Two-Differentiated Marking Strategies for TCP Flows in a Differentiated Services Network

The saw-tooth like behaviors of TCP impact Assured Forwarding Service flows in a differentiated services (diffserv) network. Therefore, we argue the use of TCP-friendly building blocks (or modules) and fairness modules in the diffserv architecture regarding this issue, and propose Two Markers System (TMS) that is able to properly mark packets and fairly share the bandwidth to each flow for thei...

Equation-Based Packet Marking for Assured Forwarding Services

This paper introduces a new packet marking algorithm that can be used in the context of Assured Forwarding (AF) in the Differentiated Services (DiffServ) framework [1], [2]. The new marking algorithm is called Equation-Based Marking (EBM) and is based on the TCP model in [3]. EBM is to handle the problems found in other marking schemes regarding fairness among heterogeneous TCP flows through a ...
